could’ve-should’ve-would’ve.pdf
Here is the slideshow that I have referred to in the current issue of English Teaching Professional. It consists of 12 book cover images taken from Amazon.co.uk, each of which contains one of the following notoriously problematic structures:
Could + have + past participle
Should + have + past participle
Would + have + past participle
Ideas for using the images for teaching can be found in the pdf file.

Dear Jamie,
I’m an English teacher from Uberaba, MG- Brazil, and I’ve just read your article in English Teaching Professional issue. Loved it and went to the internet to check the steps into Amazon.co.uk. No need to say, I did take the advantage and downloaded the lesson plan. It’s going to be very useful.
Congratulations.

There’s also a great ABBA song (The day Before You Came) that has “must have” in almost every line.

I hadn’t heard that one before. Nice song. Thanks for that Polar Bear.

Thank you for this idea . I have found lots of books with ‘wish’ in the title for a lesson along similar lines. Thanks to you.
Barbara.
